In our ongoing support of the island's efforts to ‘go green’ and reduce trash from plastic water bottles Firefly has stopped buying bottled water for the restaurant. Now when you sit down to dinner you are offered fresh, delicious ‘Mustique Water’ served in reusable glass bottles.

This one change is preventing over 3,000 large plastic bottles ending up at the Mustique dump each year! Firefly has always had a strong environmental policy; buying local produce and fish from local fishermen, utilizing solar water heaters, not using harsh cleaning chemicals or laundry products, and reusing all its grey water for irrigation.

Talking of the environment .... our lovely little electric GEM bug cars are still a huge hit with all those who drive them. They are wonderfully quiet and perfect for fun driving around Mustique.

Firefly recently brought in a GEM car specialist from the USA to service all our cars and train Calroy, our main handyman, in maintaining them so that they are always in tip top shape!

For over a decade Firefly has been instrumental in helping control the feral cats on the island by implementing a humane spay and neuter program. We are delighted that the Mustique Environmental Committee now gives this vital project its full support and as a result we have a reduced and controlled population of feral cats on the island.

In April our wonderful friends and vets from Rhode Island again volunteered their time and were back on the island busily trapping and neutering the feral cats and dogs to keep their numbers in control. A huge thank you to all the villa owners you have lent us their villas and vehicles over the years and made generous donations to help implement this important environmental island project.
